Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
Your Role:
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a leading company and perform financial control checks on food supplier income contracts proposed by their commercial buying team. The company has ambitious plans to establish new trading agreements and ventures with suppliers, and as an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in this process and gain a broad range of experience as a floating resource across the team.
In this role, you will work closely with both internal and external audit teams to ensure that the checks performed align with financial accounting policies and that the contracts approved comply with GSCOP. You will also support the accounting for various specific costs and revenue streams.
What you'll do:
Support with ACR's at period end/year end
Supporting managing the external audit at year end
Assisting with the approval of overrider contracts
Supporting with the new SAP system which will be implemented in 2025
Review accounting transactions for supplier income such as calculating accurate accruals and prepayments
Work closely with our food commercial buying team to perform financial control checks on supplier income contracts
Collaborate with internal and external audit teams to check the accuracy of income recognition
Look after the accounting for specific costs and revenues
Balance frts account code reconciliation (acr) and highlight any issues
Produce high quality reporting
What we need from you:
Experience in a finance environment, or part qualified in accountancy
Experience in balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and pre-payments
The ability to work collaboratively, challenging and influencing colleagues at all levels
Great communication skills, with the ability to translate findings to both financial and non-financial audiences
Confidence using IT systems including Microsoft Office, with particularly strong Excel skills i.e V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, Sumifs
Experience of dealing with large data sets and the ability to analyse numbers
Experience dealing with complicated scenarios and risks
Experience implementing a new system is beneficialCompany information:
