We have an opportunity for a Quality Manager to join a leading food manufacturer who supply to a range of retailers throughout the UK, based in Aintree, Liverpool. This is a full time, permanent role working Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week) on a flexi time basis, with core hours being 10am-3pm, offering a salary up to £38,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will manage a small team of QA Technicians and a QA Supervisor. with responsibility for quality, food safety and health & safety, driving the site quality standards and culture. As Quality Manager, your main duties will include:
Effective management of the QA Team, carrying out training and performance reviews where required
Develop and maintain quality management systems for the QA team and be an active hand in improving operational systems, to comply with customer and BRC standards
Head up GMP and food safety improvement initiatives
Ensure a high standard of hygiene is constantly met and kept to within the working environment, specifically take part in hygiene audits, take environmental swabs, taking water samples and to accompany pest control contractor visits.
Conduct risk assessments, develop schedules and ensure that the team understand and comply with them
Manage the internal auditing system, ensuring audit completion in line with schedule, with corrective actions communicated and dealt with appropriately
Manage consumer enquiries, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective actions
Decision maker for quality and food safety issues, escalating to the relevant parties where a decision cannot be made
Ownership of QA paperwork and procedures, including continual review and improvement
To carry out any appraisal/ development reviews of direct reports.
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
Previous experience as a Quality Manager from a food manufacturing background
Good knowledge of HACCP, BRC and Quality Management systems within the food industry
Experience in supporting site audits, ensuring non-conformances and dealing with suppliers
Ability to communicate well, have strong people management and customer service skills
Ability to establish plans and determine priorities
Proactive and able to show attention to detail
