As a buyer you will be responsible for acquiring goods, materials, and services to meet the company’s operational requirements, considering factors such as price, quality, and delivery to ensure a consistent supply. This role may involve managing a specific project or a broader range of purchasing responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement of Goods, Materials, and Services

Maintain an uninterrupted supply of necessary goods and materials and address any supply issues that could affect business operations.

Track market trends, competitor activities, and market suppliers.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction through research and evaluation.

Provide briefs, updates, and reports as needed.

Innovate and enhance procurement processes.

Develop strategies to boost operational efficiency, add value, enhance business performance, and pursue continuous improvement.
Supplier Management

Negotiate contracts, secure better prices, and business terms with suppliers, and identify opportunities for cost savings using negotiation and procurement best practices.

Evaluate suppliers and conduct performance reviews to ensure adherence to contracts and manage performance improvement initiatives.

Maintain a professional and consistent approach in all supplier interactions.

Ensure compliance with company policies.

Seek alternative sources for goods and materials.

Review and assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers.
Experience:

Relevant business or commercial experience.

Proficiency in computer skills, including advanced Excel capabilities.

Demonstrated purchasing experience, ideally within an automotive or manufacturing context (Desirable).
Education / Qualifications:

Membership in the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) (Desirable).

Preferably holds a degree in business, manufacturing, or engineering, or equivalent qualifications such as HNC, Higher Professional Diploma, or NVQ Level 4 (Desirable).
