Job Title: Room Leader/ Third in Charge
Reports to: Nursery Management Team
Role Overview: As a Room Leader, you'll be the heart of your room, inspiring both children and staff with your energy and dedication. You'll ensure the room is a safe, stimulating, and inclusive space where every child can thrive. Plus, you'll step up as a leader in the Nursery Manager's absence, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Your Daily Adventures:
Lead and Inspire: Supervise your room and team, making sure everyone is aligned with our policies and standards. Be a positive role model and mentor for your colleagues.
Engage with Families: Build strong partnerships with parents, providing clear and friendly communication. Keep the parent feedback board lively and updated daily.
Maintain Excellence: Ensure all paperwork, from observations to learning journeys, is accurate and up-to-date. Oversee new children’s onboarding, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported.
Collaborate and Share: Work closely with other Room Leaders to maintain consistent practices and share valuable information.
Safeguard with Care: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all children, following safeguarding procedures diligently.
Be Flexible: Adapt to different rooms and roles as needed to support the nursery's smooth operation. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and nursery events.
Create a High-Quality Environment: Keep your room tidy, safe, and inspiring, always aligned with the seven areas of learning. Ensure resources are well-maintained and make suggestions for improvements.
Champion Equality: Promote and practice our equality opportunity policy, ensuring all children are respected and supported. Work with external agencies to provide the best care for children with additional needs.
Daily Essentials: Occasionally assist with domestic tasks, ensuring the clean and welcoming nursery environment.
Requirements:
• Full and Relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification (essential)
• Previous experience working within an Early Years setting - ideally as a Room Leader, Nursery Nurse, Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator or similar
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and the wider legislative requirements for working with children
• Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with both colleagues and parents
• Ability to use a variety of communication techniques with both children and adults
