The Commercial & Contracts Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the IT Commercial function by analysing commercial agreements, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the efficiency of the contracting and delivery processes. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimise contract terms, mitigate risks, and enhance overall business performance.
Key Accountabilities
Analyse commercial agreements, including contracts, proposals, and amendments, to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies, legal and procurement requirements.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, procurement, and other business teams as appropriate, to produce, review and negotiate requirements, programme and tender documentation, and contract terms, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Evaluate pricing structures, payment terms, and other commercial aspects of contracts to identify opportunities to optimise value and mitigate risks.
Assist in the development and implementation of contract and vendor management policies and procedures to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and improve compliance.
Work with service delivery and project colleagues to manage day to day delivery of contracts, ensuring performance is managed effectively through SLA's, XLA's and KPI's and other mechanisms.
Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices related to commercial and contractual matters.
Support the preparation of Terms of Reference, PQQ, ITT, and other commercial and project documents, ensuring alignment with company strategies and customer requirements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of contracts, amendments, and related documents.
Collaborate with vendors and customers to address inquiries, resolve issues (contracts, P2P, vendor management, disputes etc), and negotiate modifications to existing agreements.
Maintain obligations tracker and conduct periodic audits of contract obligations compliance.
Technical Know-How
Contract Analysis: Proficient in analysing and interpreting commercial agreements, understanding terms and conditions, and identifying potential risks. IT and Utilities contracts specific experience is desirable.
Negotiation Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively in negotiations, ensuring that contracts align with business objectives while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial principles and the ability to assess pricing structures, payment terms, and financial implications of contracts.
Financial Systems: Experience using P2P systems to raise orders and pay suppliers.
Contract Management Systems: Familiarity with contract management software or other mechanisms to maintain organised and accessible contract and commercial records.
Market Research: Skills in conducting market research to stay informed about industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices.
Communication: Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
Qualifications
Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field or relevant equivalent qualification.
Experience in contracts analysis, procurement, or a related role.
Knowledge of contract law and commercial terms. Desirable
Additional certifications in contracts management or related fields are advantageous.
