Career Graded Senior Technician to Senior Engineer
Starting salary: Career Graded:- Level 5:- £26,421 - £28,770 to Level 8:- £36,648 - £39,186 per annum
Location: Based in Castlewood, Clevedon
Hours: 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has become available for an electrical minded person to join our well-established Highways Electrical & ITS team delivering maintenance and new works.
About the role
As a key member of the team, you would be supporting the street lighting and traffic signals engineers with the maintenance, design and delivery of works ensuring we continue to deliver a high quality, safe, sustainable and reliable highway electrical network.
It doesn’t just stop at street lighting and traffic signals, we are responsible for around 28,000 electrical assets across the district including, traffic management systems, subway lighting, car parking, heritage and decorative lighting, safety information signs and EV charging to name a few.
This is a career-graded position, meaning your starting salary will be determined by your skills and experience. With additional support and training, you will have the opportunity to advance to the top level.
About you
The position requires experience in either a highway electrical background or transferable electrical experience.
You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, so you will require the right blend of skills and experience and ambition, working on a variety of different works.
Depending on the level of your skills and experience, you will play the most appropriate role in the team with senior engineers expected to give day to day support and guidance to less experienced team members.
Typical duties and level of responsibility will vary by grade but for all officers would include input to:
· Working efficiently to deliver the teams priorities on time and within budget,
· Reviewing Test and Inspection data and producing works packages of remedials
· Delivering maintenance and design projects from initial concept through to overseeing its delivery on site using tools such as AutoCAD, the teams asset management systems and other specialist software,
· Reviewing design briefs from senior officers and other teams and providing electrical solutions,
· Provide technical electrical and lighting advice to other teams, stakeholders and contractors,
· Support the team with continuous improvement of team standards and working practices,
· Environmental carbon reduction in scheme delivery and outcomes.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
This position is currently based at our Castlewood offices in Clevedon. Please be advised that this office will be closed by 2025. Consultation is currently underway to determine the new location for colleagues based in Castlewood. This will be at Weston-super-Mare or within North Somerset.
