Purpose of Role:
You will be responsible for managing the effective delivery of Environmental and Health & Safety (EHS) operations to meet the Company’s requirements across both sites (UK and Ireland). This includes the effective development, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures, initiatives, and audit strategy with respect to EHS legal requirements, guidelines, and industry best practice.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Run the EHS Committee/team meetings and provide guidance to all areas of the business in executing their specific EHS responsibilities.
Establish and review EHS policies, procedures, and other documentation to ensure compliance with legislation, industry best practice, ISO45001 and ISO14001. This includes the continuous monitoring and review of EHS Manual, Legal Register(s), the reporting of KPIs and EHS metrics along with commentary.
Perform continuous reviews for hazard identification, risk analysis and assist local managers in developing ways to avoid or mitigate adverse risks, ensuring effective Change Management practices. This will include providing advice and support with the implementation of RAMS, COSHH, PTW, DSEAR, PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, DSE, HAVS, LEV, Noise, Legionella, Racking and Manual Handling assessments.
Manage Accident/Incident Reporting and investigation requirements, and related company systems. This includes the submission of periodic safety reports to relevant Authorities and meeting the requirements of RIDDOR.
Coordinate with each site to ensure an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) has been established, is trained to management personnel, and practiced annually (i.e., desktop exercises, etc.).
In collaboration with Facilities Management, ensure the effective management of Fire Life Safety provisions and co-ordinate the requirements of building evacuation drills and related practices.
Monitor the EHS induction and onboarding process for new employees, recommending improvements to ensure effective practices are in place.
Management of the annual EHS safety climate tool
Management of safety training
Management of first aid provisions
At least 3 years’ industry experience in EHS leadership
ISO14001 or ISO45001 auditing qualification
Has led Health and Safety investigations using industry standard tools
User of Microsoft Software
5+ years’ industry experience in EHS leadership
Lead auditor experience
History of delivering tangible, improvement projects
Experience with industry standard, problem solving tools
Knowledge
A solid understanding of the key principles of ISO14001 or ISO45001
NEBOSH Diploma or Certificate in Health & Safety (or equivalent)
Knowledge of both ISO14001 and ISO45001
NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management
Qualifications
GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree, HCD/HND, NEBOSH or equivalent in Engineering, Quality or HSE
Member/chartered member of a recognized professional body (IOSH/IIRSM)
