About the Role As a Buyer, you will report directly to the Procurement Manager responsible for Bids, Mobilisations, and Acquisitions. Your primary role will involve supporting key procurement activities, particularly in relation to bids and mobilisations. You will play a crucial part in securing competitive supplier pricing, ensuring smooth supplier onboarding, and validating pricing to guarantee that our client consistently delivers exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing, Negotiation & Contracting:
Conducting data gathering on spend, volume, and service needs in preparation for sourcing activities.
Negotiating and influencing suppliers to achieve the best market value.
Supporting in the development and execution of sourcing strategies that align with business objectives.
Bid Support:
Collaborating with the Procurement Category & Sourcing Teams and Bid Pricing Teams to obtain competitive supplier pricing.
Leading on supplier engagement during bid processes to ensure accurate and competitive proposals.
Mobilisation Support:
Assisting in pricing validations for new contracts to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
Managing supplier onboarding activities, ensuring all suppliers are properly vetted and integrated into the organisation’s systems in time for contract go-live.
Stakeholder Management:
Managing and supporting a wide range of internal stakeholders within the bids and mergers team, ensuring alignment and successful implementation of procurement strategies.
Working cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Shared Services teams to gather, assess, and challenge business requirements.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with external suppliers, balancing the need to challenge while maintaining positive, collaborative relationships.
Supplier Management:
Ensuring suppliers meet the organisation’s standards for quality, reliability, and delivery.
Monitoring supplier performance and working with them to resolve any issues that may arise.
Continuous Improvement:
Proactively seeking out opportunities to improve sourcing processes and supplier engagement strategies.
Contributing to the development of annual procurement targets and goals, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and risk mitigation. What We’re Looking For
Experience & Expertise: You should have 2 to 3 years of procurement experience with a strong track record in sourcing, negotiation, and stakeholder management. Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential.
Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills are required. You must be able to manage multiple priorities effectively and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications: A CIPS qualification is preferred but not essential. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
