You will also be responsible supervising the site employees at our Nottingham site, ensuring the site is operating safely at all times and within the guidelines of Sims policies and procedures.

Key accountabilities of the Supervisor include:

Lead and manage effectively a team, ensuring site is resourced properly to fulfil daily tasks

Communicate crossover between day and night shift, ensuring both shifts are fulfilling their roles

Hold morning meetings with yard staff, give direction and communicate daily instructions

Manage product quality across the site, including infeed shredder quality and shredder outputs
-
Focus on site production, ensuring daily production sheets are completed accurately. Any downtime actions alleviated and regular product sampling undertaken

Promote continuous improvement across the site wherever possible
-
Promote 5s culture across the site, emphasising and good housekeeping and product quality
-
Ensure that Customers/Suppliers receive excellent service levels from all staff
-
Regularly communicate with other sites on product quality and transport demands
-
Cover weighbridge duties if required
-
Take responsibility for some of the Red Folder safety management system, including ensuring mobile plant daily check sheets are completed

Regularly communicate with Site Manager highlighting any concerns with achieving daily goals

Perform such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require

Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety and Community
Applicants must have exceptional organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. They will have excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, flexible and adaptable. The candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills combined with integrity and confidentiality. The role requires a proven track record of managing a team with the ability to work as part of a team. Applicants will need good customer service skills, be proactive with the ability to delegate and be an excellent communicator.
Candidates will have excellent knowledge of relevant Environmental, Health and Safety legislation / SHECS policies and at least 2 years’ relevant experience of metals recycling processes. Previous experience of having worked with ferrous and non-ferrous would be an advantage as would a Fork lift and TLT license. 360 machine operating experience and the ability to use a weighbridge would also be an advantage. A background in processing and or production would be useful together with the understanding of product quality
