The commercial manager will be responsible for maintaining and developing sales of the combined Heidelberg Materials Packed Products base aggregate turnover of a minimum of 400k t/pa with a revenue of £3,2m p/a.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the packed products business operates at the margin to deliver annual plan set by the packed products director.
Your objective is to maintain and improve the current Gross Margin position.
You are responsible for developing trading relationships with independent builders' merchants, national builders' merchants, retail outlets and buying groups throughout the operational areas of the satellite sites. You will create and implement strategic customer and sector business plans in line with overall Packed Products strategy.
You will be expected to work closely with the regional operations manager in the sourcing of the raw materials, packaging and haulage to ensure we are buying at the correct rates to ensure we are making the margin set by the packed products director.
Working with XPO you will also build a strong relationship with independent hauliers to ensure we have the correct level of fleet to meet customer demand.
You will be involved in the annual budgeting process where we set out annual volume and revenue targets for the base aggregate business.
You will implement and use effective performance measurement systems to monitor success of the packed base aggregate business plan through performance targets, gains and losses and prospects.
You will provide reporting through Tableau and the new CRM system.
You are expected to negotiate regional contracts effectively both internally and externally, working closely with the packed products director, regional operations manager and senior finance manager to deliver these initiatives.
Any complaints or credit control issues within your area of activity/team are to be resolved quickly to reduce and avoid bad debts.
The complaints CRM is to be utilised and monitored to resolve complaints.
You are expected to work closely with other Heidelberg Materials UK companies to create and deliver synergies and opportunities. In particular you will be expected to prepare business plans where we can expand the packed products business in conjunction with Heidelberg Materials Aggregates.
