About the role: Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, the post holder will be responsible for pre-setting and setting mobile equipment, tube filling equipment and all other associated line equipment. The Technical setter will always set the lines of their responsibility via genuine set up data sheets. Upon completion that the line has been set, it is the Technical Setter’s role and responsibility to produce to the product specification 50 completed and saleable units prior to the production team actually running the line.
All relevant wastage of materials used during the set-up and 50 off must be recorded, signed and dated by the Technical Setter in the relevant paperwork prior to the production team running the line. As part of the pre-setting of equipment the Technical Setter will assemble the relevant equipment and at the same time inspect and change any worn or defective consumable parts, i.e. O rings, seals, gaskets, nuts / bolts etc. If a major part is found to be faulty or worn then the Technical Setter must report this finding to the Engineering Team Leader and / or the Cell Production Engineer.
The Technical Setter job function is to support the production of a variety of healthcare, toiletry and pharmaceutical products, and will support production line personnel in achieving targeted output. The post holder will be required to work within clearly defined processes and procedures and product specifications and standards, while ensuring full compliance with Quality, Health and Safety at Work and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times.
This is a factory-based role, requiring the post holder to be standing for most of the working day. Moderate physical effort will be required and will include, bending, lifting and the operation of basic manual handling and occasional movement of equipment. The post involves basic documentation and simple recording of electronic data, which requires accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Following training, the key duties of the post are as follows;
• Provide a professional, high quality service to Production following adequate training on specific equipment.
• Be responsible for the setting of production lines in accordance with product standards and specifications.
• Ensure that all operations on all equipment are performed to a professional, high quality standard.
• Liaise closely with Production Management to prioritise production planning and equipment availability.
• Inform and update Production Management with regards to line availability.
• Ensure major issues are elevated in line with the agreed process – Elevation Tree.
• Work closely as part of a team in conjunction with the Warehouse and Manufacturing departments.
• Report any immediate major Engineering issues to the Line Engineering for resolution.
• Ensure that equipment is properly maintained. Identify minor faults so that immediate corrective action can be taken.
• Report any major equipment failures to the Engineering Team Leader for resolution.
• Be responsible and accountable for completion of all relevant documentation.
• Be responsible for and ensure that Product Quality meets relevant Standards, specifications and customer expectations.
• Ensure that documentation is accurately maintained and relevant information communicated as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work, and maintain that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and Standard Working Instructions (SWI’s) are adhered to at all times.
• Maintain high standards of GMP at all times in production and other accountable areas.
• Follow machine setting manuals and complete set up detail documentation.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties at the request of the Production Shift Manager.
• Be available for weekend and out of hours work if and when the business dictates.
• Using Yellow Belt taught techniques when investigating and / or implementing process improvement initiatives.
• Identify poor performing products as and when you have set the product and reviewed the daily, weekly and monthly results. When requested become part of a process improvement team.
• Help cover production when required
