We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Housing Solutions Officer to join a team in Rhonnda Cynon Taf on a full-time temporary ongoing basis. The Housing Solutions Officer will be responsible for interviewing and advising clients at risk of homelessness or in housing need so wherever possible homelessness is prevented. This role requires in-depth knowledge of housing legislation, and experience working closely with members of the public.
Requirements
Previous experience working in a similar role, preferably within housing solutions, homelessness prevention, or social housing
Knowledge of housing legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Homelessness Reduction Act, the Children Act, the Care Act, and the Welfare Reform Act
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible manner
Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines
Previous experience of working in a busy and pressurised customer facing roleRole Expectations
To prevent homelessness and solve housing problems by effective intervention and housing advice
To provide realistic information to customers regarding eligibility for housing assistance from the Council and regarding alternative housing solutions
To carry out assessments and ensure compliance with the duties under the requirements of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014
To deal with enquiries from Housing Register applicants and to give advice about rehousing prospects and alternative housing options
To assist applicants to make an online application to the Common Housing Register
To provide telephone and face to face advice to all customers about housing entitlements, housing solutions and the prevention of homelessness
To understand the full range of housing solutions available and be able to explain them clearly to customers in order to promote the prevention and relief of homelessness within the law
