WARRINGTON based SAMEDAY Courier / Logistics business are looking for an experienced SAMEDAY Logistics Transport / Driver Controller to join their established and developing team
Main Purpose(s):
- Quality control of all orders being taken by the company to ensure smooth fulfilment of the order.
- Responsibility for the selection & allocation of correct vehicle and supplier to fulfil all orders, in line with both Company Standard Operating Procedures and client requirements.
- Ownership and quality assurance of the live console system, ensuring that service levels and gross margins are in line with Company KPI's.
- To ensure an adequate core driver pool is available and that the level of work allocated to the core driver pool fulfils the drivers required level of business whilst also ensuring a mutually positive relationship for both them and the company.
Responsibilities of Job
- Ownership of the Live console management
- Own and manage all processes in line with the agreed Company Standard Operating Procedures
- Day to day responsibility for management of the live console, ensuring that all jobs are allocated drivers within the agreed timescales
- Correct supplier selection considering service, cost, quality of paperwork and the effects of poor selection choices on both the client and the company
- Day to day responsibility for the full life cycle of each job, through to full completion of the job. Full completion is determined as the receipt of a full & satisfactory proof of delivery & any other relevant paperwork necessary
- Monitor and manage all jobs ensuring quality of service at all times. Any exceptions to quality to be immediately reported to the Logistics Team Manager and relevant salespeople
- Ensure that all handovers are managed effectively detailing priorities and risks
- Prioritisation of jobs, with an emphasis on top 15 customers, while meeting service level requirements for all customers
- Give feedback to Logistics Controllers on order pricing to ensure that we maximise GP while balancing service levels for clients
- Review Price on Application (POA) work, ensuring that GP is being maximised, and feeding back to team where improvements could be made
- All service issues to be logged and recorded daily
- Ensuring that any relevant rules and regulations are taken into consideration and actioned when allocating drivers (Driving hours, PPE, Hazardous goods etc)
Core Driver Management :
- Core driver recruitment & selection, highlighting to the Logistics Team Manager any drivers that would be a potential fit for the role
- Full core driver onboarding, including setting the driver expectation on what is required in terms of quality of service (vehicle, collection & delivery etiquette, paperwork requirements)
- Ensuring that all driving hours rules and regulations are following when allocating work to Core Drivers
- Ensuring that all other necessary rules and regulations in relation to given deliveries are followed by the Core Drivers
General :
- Manage supplier relationships including core & contractor drivers and partner companies to foster good working relationships and achieve positive feedback on CX/HX
- First line problem resolution of negative CX/HX feedback & complaints, within the CX/HX deadlines, escalating to a Senior Manager when they cannot be progressed further
- Maximise gross profit on all bookings while balancing service levels
- On call duties to be fulfilled in line with Company Guidelines
- Provide operational cover as and when required including Logistics Coordinator duties (answering sales lines / emails)
- Ensure that the contractors list is regularly reviewed and updated, ensuring any drivers who are blocked are recorded and communicated to the Logistics Team.
- Leaving CX/HX feedback when appropriate to help teammates with future supplier selection.
- To update and cleanse the CX/HX address book, ensuring all data correct for new/regular clients
Person Specification :
- 2 years + experience working in a similarTransport Industry /role, but Sameday or Time Critical Logistics is preferred
- High level of attention to detail and process orientated
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Operates in line with company values & behaviours
- Confident and competent in inbound and outbound business phone calls
- A self- starter who is resilient and can operate under pressure
- An effective communicator and negotiator
- Confident and competent in the use of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
