A Surveyor is a highly qualified professional and the role, as well as being varied and challenging, makes a real difference to people’s health and well-being. The role holder must have detailed and extensive knowledge and practical experience of: building construction, building defects and their remedies, the housing health & safety rating system and the legislation relating to disabled facilities grants (DFGs). They will be expected to work independently, providing a high level of technical advice and expertise.
The Surveyor provides technical advice, assistance and support to people with disabilities and older owner-occupiers in respect of home improvement works and adaptations.
The role holder will manage their own caseload and where required monitor the work undertaken by temporary and fixed term surveyors employed by the service.
The surveyor will be responsible for developing the surveying role as appropriate and contribute to the overall development of Cornwall Home Solutions (CHS)
They will utilise the health & safety rating system to identify hazards, draft schedules of work for adaptations etc.
They must be competent to work independently utilising best practice and technical knowledge to meet the demands of service users. To be able to achieve this, the post holder must be meticulous in the management of individual cases.
Their technical knowledge and skills will be a valuable resource and they will assist and communicate effectively with other team members to enhance service delivery. Using their knowledge and expertise they will provide solutions to a wide range of housing problems/issues encountered by disabled and older people.
The ability to be creative and solve problems on the spot is essential as this skill will be required daily
