Good Afternoon,
I am currently representing Slough Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of £18.15 which is negotiable dependent upon experience.
We are looking for a Housing Options Officer this role will be: SL1 2EJ
The right candidate will:

providing the Council’s statutory obligations in relation to housing advice and homeless services including the s184 notifications and direct communication via phone, email or in person, with members of the public seeking support or advice.

To ensure that the Council complies with its statutory duties in providing the above, with particular reference to the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and Parts VI and VII, the Housing Act, taking into account, the relevant codes of guidance, case law and agreed legislative and service standards.

To negotiate with landlords, family members and other agencies, both statutory and non-statutory to find the best solutions to clients housing needs and seeking to prevent homelessness wherever possible.

To undertake comprehensive financial assessments to ensure accommodation is affordable and that where required to work closely with colleagues from the Welfare Service to maximise income application or changes to benefits are progressed in a timely manner.
We require the following:

Experience of working in Housing Advice, Homelessness, Private rented sector or Tenancy Relations role.

Experience of providing services to a diverse client group, managing difficult and vulnerable customers professionally and effectively, within the context of a front line customer focused service.

Experience of working in confidential situations with an understanding of when & how to share sensitive information with customers and relevant agencies.

Experience of developing and delivering an excellent service to all customers

A good understanding of the current homelessness legislation, Part 7, Homeless Reduction Act, Approach, Prevention work

Holds a current and full UK driving licence with own car, which is available for work.
