Assistant Manager, Council Tax, Revenues & Benefits Shared Service
Grade 9, £42,107 - £45,117 (inclusive of local weighting) depending on experience.
Full time (part-time working and job share considered). 37 hours per week.
Permanent.
Based in Hertford with the option for home working up to 50% of working hours.

Are you a Revenues professional who is looking for the next step within a Shared Service, enthusiastic, good under pressure, focused and looking to help build the Service further and enjoys a busy, performance based and customer facing environment?
We are looking for someone like you to join our team! If we are a good fit for you, you will have the opportunity for managing the operation of the team to ensure high collection and performance, reviewing processes for further efficiencies, managing the review cycles, and representing the Council at Valuation Tribunal hearings.
What will you be doing?
- Supporting the shared service manager in the operational management of the team.
- Developing new working methods and processes.
- Ensuring you and the staff have full working knowledge of relevant legislation and IT applications to enable the efficient carrying out of the duties to achieve the service targets.
- Helping to drive the Council’s Digital Programme forward by encouraging customers to take up online accounts, e-billing, and the use of online notification forms to help build a more sustainable service.
- Ensuring we continue to deliver on effective performance management, sickness & absence management, health and safety, equalities, diversity, discipline and development are maintained and exercised fully.
About you
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- The IRRV technician level or equivalent experience.
- High levels of numeracy skills, including the ability to manipulate numerical data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong customer focus and ability to deal with members and colleagues at all levels.
- At least five year’s relevant management experience in a Revenues or a similar environment.
- Proven track record of good and effective management of operations and demonstrate clear and direct leadership qualities.
