The Product and Channels(P&C) team delivers client-facing apps and web services, including the migration to a single Virgin Money App. We're transforming to enhance collaboration, encourage curiosity, and streamline operations for exceptional customer experiences. With a purpose-driven approach, we're making money happier for our customers, ensuring better security, stability, and performance.
As such, our Senior Technical Lead plays a vital role in leading the technical delivery of applications and features under their oversight, providing technical expertise, decision making and leadership to their team.
What you’ll be doing
Developing and delivering market-leading Personal Banking propositions across Personal Current Account and Deposits, thereby driving personal customer value through 'Magic Money' moments and portfolio growth, making it easier for personal banking customers to manage their money digitally by delivering great, frictionless digital servicing experiences.
Facilitates technical / business discussions to help define the work needed to achieve the business outcomes for their area. Leading the transition from Design to build and beyond.
Maintains knowledge and awareness of business and technical initiatives.
Use the right practices/tools to ensure best-in-class delivery and support capability.
Mentor and coach team members on important and relevant concepts. Ensure alignment with the objectives and metrics for the team.
Work with the Solution Architects to align stakeholders around the roadmap for implementing improvements to the applications/features.
Lead and drive end-to-end software delivery ensuring business expectations on delivery and code quality are met.
Works with relevant areas (e.g. DevOps, Release Management, QA) to enable faster release and deployment cycles.
Maintain a Service Management viewpoint, leading the technical investigation of incidents as necessary.
Use service data to anticipate problems and potential issues and to drive continuous improvement.
Feed into planning processes to identify opportunities to implement changes that will provide maximum business value.
Demonstrate technical ownership and leadership over teams’ journeys, components, and capabilities.
Where appropriate provides Supplier Relationship Management support or ownership.
Ensure the correct blend of resources within their team and the financial management of their team.
We need you to have
Proven leadership experience in a technical role with a strong background in driving technical delivery.
Extensive experience working on complex software development including Azure Cloud, Web and Mobile Front End Systems, API and Java Microservices.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide hands-on technical solutions.
Experience in mentoring and coaching team members.
Ability to facilitate technical/business discussions and align stakeholders on roadmaps.
Knowledge of service management and incident resolution.
Financial management skills and experience managing team resources.
Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Commitment to fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement.
