Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Operations Manager to join our client who are Based in Runcorn, this role is crucial for supporting increased client demand and strategic partnership. As the company Expand their project engineering team, you will play a key role in managing customer communications, leading project activities, planning across diverse projects, managing supplier relationships, and assessing team skills and training needs.
This role involves onboarding new employees, recruiting a replacement field engineer, and visiting customer sites to assess project flow and solutions. Installation of software, hardware, and system components may also be required across the UK, Europe, and potentially the USA and other global locations.
The Opportunity
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
Manage the onboarding of new projects and oversee daily project operations.
Create and communicate project plans to customers and the engineering team, ensuring projects adhere to budget expectations.
Onboard and collaborate with the new planning function to delegate daily tasks.
Recruit a replacement field-based engineer.
Maintain and enhance quality standards and safe working practices within the engineering team.
Manage key supplier relationships and supply chain requirements.
Conduct reviews with engineers to support skill development, upskilling, and issue identification.
Collaborate with various teams to understand new business initiatives and prepare the team for participation.
Lead projects directly on-site when necessary to facilitate skill and knowledge transfer to the engineering team.
Act as the second line escalation for customer challenges on projects.
Monitor budgets to manage and address any variances.
Qualifications/Experience:

Proven experience in managing service/project teams.

Hands-on project management experience.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant electrical discipline.

Demonstrated mechanical skills.

Eagerness to learn and utilize both proprietary and third-party software systems.

Experience in training end-users and project teams.

Full UK passport and UK driving license.
Not Required but Beneficial:
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL tools such as SSRS, SSAS, SSIS.
Experience with industrial devices and communication protocols.
Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Prince2 and Agile.
PLC skills, including Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens.
Understanding of TCP/IP networks, including Firewalls, IIS, and FTP.
Experience with vision devices such as Sick, Cognex, Omron.
Proficiency in additional languages (German, Spanish, French).
