Are you a commercially astute professional with main contractor experience and a knack for managing subcontractors?
Our client is looking for a dynamic Commercial Manager to join their team. This role focuses on overseeing subcontractors and providing vital commercial guidance to our engineering and project management teams.
About the Role:
As a Commercial Manager you will:
Manage 4-10 Senior Quantity Surveyors (SQS) and Quantity Surveyors (QS).
Provide commercial advice and guidance to engineers and project managers.
Oversee and manage NEC subcontracts (all options).
Procure subcontractors, draft contracts, and ensure compliance with existing proformas.
Handle manual contract administration using emails and trackers for tasks such as AfP, CE, and EWN.
Work onsite in Peterborough (3 days per week) and remotely (2 days per week), with monthly site visits across North Lincolnshire to Milton Keynes.Key Responsibilities:
Direct management of subcontractors, ensuring adherence to contracts and project timelines.
Strategic oversight of commercial aspects, from procurement to contract administration.
Facilitate effective communication and documentation using established proformas.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor subcontractor performance and resolve issues.
Provide leadership and mentorship to the SQS/QS team, fostering a collaborative work environment.About You:
Proven experience in a main contractor role, with a focus on managing subcontractors.
Technically strong with significant managerial experience.
Proficient in NEC subcontract management (all options).
Ability to manage manual contract administration processes.
Water industry experience is preferred but not essential.
Strong procurement skills, with the ability to draft contracts based on existing templates.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
