Our Team
Operational Risk Management oversees Payment Risk, Operational Risk, Digital and Technology Risk, Third Party risk, Change Risk and People Risk. We also work closely with teams across in Risk Management. The Payment Risk team deliver and maintain robust and resilient systems and processes for all our payment activities, ensuring we maintain effective controls over all aspects of the VM Payments landscape.
What you’ll be doing
Leading the design and delivery of all work on Payment Infrastructure risk in the 2nd line, using technical payments infrastructure knowledge to drive inputs to Risk LT and external reporting to Regulators.
Reporting to the Board and Leadership Team to ensure understanding of the key Payment Infrastructure risks and setting the mitigation strategies to reduce risk exposure, and providing high quality outputs and opinions, written and verbal, on all areas of Payment Infrastructure to senior leaders.
Leading the creation and oversight of the Payment Infrastructure risk monitoring and assurance plan, ensuring delivery of team activities in line with methodology and standards and within timescales.
Providing expert opinion and direction, guidance and support in the oversight and independent challenge of the 1st line of defence teams to ensure relevant risks are identified, documented, measured, monitored, and mitigated.
Ensuring that resiliency part of the agenda when providing risk-based assessment of system/tooling choices in Payment related disciplines across the Bank
Providing clear direction and purpose regarding Payment Infrastructure risk management to the organisation alongside mentoring and supporting managers within the bank to execute their own responsibilities.
Keeping up to speed with advances in all payment related regulations and standards.
We need you to have
Significant experience of Payment (risk) management within Financial Services.
Awareness and knowledge of the UK Payments industry landscape.
Previous experience in Payment related fields of expertise (e.g. technology, cyber, change risk)
Expertise in communicating at senior management and executive level, and highly developed stakeholder management expertise.
Excellent advisory, negotiating and influencing skills; able to effectively shift the views of others to achieve risk objectives.
Very proficient in identifying opportunities for improvement in ways of working, processes and delivering changes required, an ability to demonstrate a strategic mind-set and understanding of the bigger picture.
Strong capability for redesigning processes, quality management, Six Sigma techniques and Agile methodology.
Extensive audit and assurance experience.
