Role Overview:
Team Building and Leadership: Lead a top-tier data team, including senior contributors and first-line managers.
Cultivating Team Culture: Establish a culture of high performance, providing the tools and practices necessary for the team to thrive.
Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure the data team’s work supports the overall business strategy.
Senior Data Advisor: Act as the go-to expert on data for the senior leadership team, guiding them through complex decisions and projects.
Comprehensive Metrics Development: Develop and refine a wide range of metrics to represent the entire organisation, with your team analysing and interpreting these to support other departments.
Budget Management: Oversee the budget for tools and headcount, making strategic decisions on resources to support the team's goals.
Data Governance and Compliance: Ensure data is managed robustly and reliably, designing governance initiatives and working with the CTOO on privacy and GDPR compliance.Required Skills and Qualifications:
Leadership Experience: Proven track record in leading data teams, fostering engagement, and driving high performance.
Analytical Communication: Ability to translate individual experiences into statistical insights, presenting them clearly to various stakeholders.
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Excellent listening and storytelling skills, working closely with senior leaders to understand their challenges and provide practical solutions.
Knowledge of Data Team Structures: Familiarity with different operating models for data teams, capable of guiding the team through the advantages and disadvantages of centralised and decentralised structures.
Detail-Oriented and Visionary: Ability to switch between detailed data verification and big-picture thinking to drive team performance.
Technical Proficiency: Competence in ensuring the team focuses on the right tasks, while holding technical experts accountable without needing to master every tool.
Budget Management: Experience in managing budgets, controlling costs, and renegotiating contracts with suppliers.
SQL Proficiency: Skilled in SQL and capable of independently working with diverse datasets, creating visualisations with various tools, and tracing data from its source to its application.
