Transport & Logistics Shift Manager
Fresh People are recruiting for a Logistics Shift Manager for a FMCG Food Manufacturing operation based in Hertfordshire . Reporting to the Logistics Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Logistics & Transport teams to ensure the safe and accurate receipt, handing and distribution including delivery and collection of all goods in accordance with all legal and company requirements. You will lead cross function and develop those around you to deliver excellent Logistics performance
The Person
Previous experience in a Logistics management role is required along with FMCG experience , must have CPC qualification so previously worked as a Transport Manager or similar would be considered for this role . Strong leadership skills , with a strong focus on the customer , quick thinking, effective decision maker, self-motivated with the ability to build strong working relationships. Must have the ability to lead and develop the transport and warehouse teams
Role Requirements

Set clear goals, targets and expectations of performance for all operatives, drivers, administrators and coordinators on your shifts to ensure all relevant KPI’s are met.

Lead the safety first agenda, ensuring all team members are aware, trained and audited on complying with environmental, health and safety, legal and company standards. Drive safety culture through leading by example and holding regular documented safety briefings.

Ensure optimal labour utilisation by making best use of the company warehouse management and route planning systems, always ensuring system compliance.

Recruit, train and develop operatives, drivers, administrators and coordinators to reflect the company’s values driving the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and qualifications to perform effectively.

Work closely with our VMU to ensure maximum fleet availability (HGV/FLT) and legal compliance

Plan and deliver effective performance reviews and development plans for each team member

Execute continuous improvement action plans (e.g. PDP initiatives, productivity improvements, engagement survey are delivered to maintain/improve standards and performance

Ensure that any service issues arising are addressed promptly and where appropriate, escalated, prepare and present solid and reliable key information at various meetings/reviews.

Build and develop effective relationships with other teams on site to ensure cross functional working and the optimal performance of the function is achieved.

Manage KPI’s on Labour control , H&S, service efficiency in line with logistics budget
