Transport Manager, Dunstable, Bedfordshire
Circa £45,000 Monday – Friday (8am-5pm)
We have been supplying the retail trade for 25 years. With a wide variety of customers ranging from the best known wholesalers throughout the UK to many familiar high street retailers, as well as a number of export markets throughout Europe. As a market leader of disposable products in the UK. Ranges include pocket tissues, napkins, disposable paper and polystyrene tableware, ECO disposable ranges, drinking straws, plastic tableware, plastic drinkware, EPS cups and tableware, boxed foils, cling films and baking papers, Baking accessories, Refuse sacks and candles.
We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager and safe pair of hands to oversee the daily operations of the Transport ensuring efficiency, productivity, and profitability within the business. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will improve efficiency in the Transport department.
The Role:
- Managing a team of Drivers who deliver across the UK but predominately within London and the M25 zone.
- You will have autonomy and responsibility for managing the costs and purchases within transport (buying new fleet, maintenance contracts, purchasing of fuel and ad-blue) etc
- Utilising your knowledge to maximise efficiencies in planning routes (taking into account, the relevant zones and charges for driving in London and M25 areas)
- Support, training and assisting drivers with daily issues (VOR’s, delivery queries)
- Manage all transport compliance (Driving regulations in line with legal requirements
- Recruiting and managing all staff within transport (currently a team of 5 people)
- Communicate and work with the General Manager and Operations Manager to maximise efficiencies across the department and to work with internal teams (Warehouse & Sales) to help meet the overall objectives of our company.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing Transport team and hold a full CPC (National & International qualification)
