I am currently recruiting for a Kitchen Manager to work in a beautiful and exhibition centre in Colchester. You will be working with the Catering & Bar Manager and the events team in delivering set menus and bespoke catering services for hires and events of high standard, including, buffets, sit down menus and Christmas. You will be required to work with the Catering and Bar Services Manager to develop and produce an imaginative and deliverable menu appropriate to the venue and visitor profile to support two cafe serveries. Focussing on fresh seasonal and where possible local ingredients, ensuring the highest standards of food hygiene, service, and health & safety procedures.

Proven consistently high-quality cookery skills

Experience working in a managerial role in a commercial kitchen

Experience of supervising and managing a team

A passion for food and an understanding of food from other cultures, knowledge of seasonal produce using local suppliers

Experience of costing menus

Fundamental understanding of health & safety requirements in a catering environment

Knowledge of food from different cultures and styles (Vegan dishes is an advantage)

Good administrative skills and adherence to specific ingredients and measurement needed for various menus

Effective communication skills both written and verbal

Strong leadership skills

Basic knowledge of word, Excel and outlook

Qualifications & training
This is 30 hours a week seasonal position, on a rotating shift pattern Tuesday - Sunday including evenings and bank holidays.
