Brook Street Ltd are pleased to announce a readily available position within Exeter EX2 7LQ working for the APHA (Animal and Plant health Agency) as an Administrative Officer x 2
The role is based on a Hybrid setting with 3 days in office and 2 days working from home on a temporary contract until October 2024 with high possibility of an extension.
Monday-Friday between hours 9-5 at an hourly rate of £12.33
APHA work to safeguard animal and plant health for the benefit of people, the environment and the economy. The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is an executive agency of the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, and works on behalf of the Scottish Government and Welsh Government.
General office duties will include but not limited to:
Administrative:
o Answering telephone queries in a team which provides customer advice for the whole of England, following up enquiries which cannot be immediately resolved
o Ensuring accurate records are kept and updated accordingly
o Taking responsibility for carrying out a set of TB admin procedures; ensuring actions are carried out in accordance with the procedures and within necessary timescales
o Providing support and guidance to others (internally and externally) on procedures
o Use of Information Systems
o Inputting data and information on to bespoke APHA data capture systems and keeping accurate records.
Who are we looking for?
Liaising with the public:
o Liaising with farmers and local veterinary practices to arrange tests
o Arranging removal of diseased animals; liaising with farmers and their agents overcompensation valuations and payments
o Liaising with laboratories over test results
o Responding to requests from the public, for information, and licenses etc
Excellent time management skills/excellent written and verbal communication essential.
o Updating information held on APHA information systems
o Responding to emergencies
o Is flexible to adapt to changing situations within the office and responds with emergency and commitment to take on additional tasks that may be required outside of the normal day to day duties.
Requirements
" Administrative experience with a good knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office -Essential
" Good communication skills, both oral and written.
" Great Attention to detail
" Can work well within a team and using own initiative
Full training will be given.
You will be required to pass a Basic DBS and will require full 3 years referencing.
