Hackney Council’s Building Maintenance Teams work streams are rapidly expanding, we are looking for qualified operatives in a number of trades to increase our direct workforce. We are looking for individuals to help us maintain the properties we look after. Your role will be to help make sure these homes are safe and maintained to a high standard for the people who live in them. You will be working on properties across Hackney, some of these homes will be occupied but you will also be helping us prepare others for their new occupants.
As a Repair/Void Team Supervisor you will be managing a team of a few people. You will process works and manage your team’s workload helping to prioritise when repairs are carried out. You will also do routine & void inspections before and after jobs are done to make sure works are completed safely and to a high standard.
Your team will be working in properties across Hackney and sometimes in other areas. They will be helping prepare empty properties for their new occupants as well as working on properties that are lived in. Some of this will be scheduled maintenance, but you will also provide a response service for repairs as they are reported by our tenants.
It’s important that you have a technical understanding of some of the issues your team will respond to. This will include work related to carpentry, plumbing, gas, electrical and decorating and you will oversee their work. You will have some responsibility for monitoring the service budgets and financial planning.
You should have experience supervising a team and performance management. You need to hold a full clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for business use. You also need a qualification from the building trade or maintenance management. You must hold a clean valid Full UK Driver’s License.
