Gurler Mae is proud to announce that we are searching for a Design Estimator for our client.
Role Overview:
As a Design Estimator, you will have a proven track record of supporting sales teams with the provision of detailed designs, technical proposals, and costing for various projects within the security and/or life safety sectors.
You will have exceptional knowledge of multiple life safety and/or security systems and have been involved in tendering projects ranging from £10k to £1m+. You will have experience in reading drawings, understanding specifications, and possessing an element of commercial awareness, alongside a logical and structured approach to estimating.
You are a team player who is highly motivated & ambitious, with a pro-active work ethic, and lead by example. You will provide support and guidance to the sales team to ensure exceptional support to our clients, delivering the most appropriate solutions.
High levels of self-motivation, organization, integrity, and dedication are essential in this role.
Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: Be the primary contact for internal teams and clients regarding relevant standards, legislation, regulatory requirements, and technical excellence.

Technical Knowledge: Expertise in a variety of security and/or life safety systems including Fire Alarm & Fire Detection, EVC Systems, Evacuation Alert Systems, PAVA, Air Sampling, Atex & IS Systems, Gas Suppression, Access Control, CCTV, Intruder, PA Systems.

Estimating Excellence: Support on all security and/or life safety project estimating, including product selection, quantification of tenders, accurate costing based on industry trends, and current factors. Provide detailed cost sheets, drawing markups/takeoffs, and/or designs alongside quotations for work, across all Fire & Security Disciplines (Electrical).

Strategy Support: Assist in developing processes and strategies to ensure maximum output without reducing technical excellence.

Technical Support: Conduct surveys, client meetings, pre & post-tender meetings, understanding client needs, and providing optimal solutions.

Market Intelligence: Gather, maintain, and create accurate subcontractor & product market information, identifying new products, technologies, and installation pricing.

Internal Relationships: Build solid, trust-driven relationships with internal stakeholders including sales, customer success, engineering, and operational delivery teams.

Training & Development: Identify training needs, skills gaps, and opportunities for personal and team development.

Performance Management: Set goals, provide feedback, conduct reviews, and facilitate personal development plans.
