Procurement Heads' Industrial team is working with a well established yet rapidly growing distributor. Our client has grown steadily via acquisitions and is well placed to increase turnover by an additional 50% over the next two years. As such they are growing their procurement function and looking to recruit an experienced Product Category Manager.
The Category Manager will join a team of 10 in procurement and have line management responsibility for a Buyer in relation to their category – covering products in relation to PPE (Eye Protection, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Protection, Boots, hand and body wear )
This is a senior role in the team allowing you to bring strategic vision and to spearhead best practice procurement strategies for your product categories.
As Category Manager you will be responsible for;

Your responsibilities will span from negotiating advantageous commercial terms to driving cost savings and process improvements, all while ensuring our competitive edge in the market.

Be at the forefront of industry and consumer trends

Create long-term growth and sustainability strategies while fostering strong vendor relationships

Negotiate most advantageous commercial terms including to achieve product cost saving targets.

Utilise rebate agreements, early payment discounts, transport discounts and other strategies to add profitability.

Monitor supplier commercial agreements, renewals and opportunities for renegotiation

Take ownership for the sustainability and growth of the categories Profit Margin

Manage relationships with existing suppliers and identify new alternative suppliers

Establish KPIs to measure supplier performance, monitor and action accordingly

Research and identify best routes of source

Competitively source new or special products through supplier relationship
Skills and Experience:

Purchasing and stock control/supply chain experience ideally gained in a fast moving, customer focused business

Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate with suppliers

A proactive approach with regards to cost saving and efficiency opportunities
Salary & Benefits:

£48,000- £52,000 DOE

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing after 3 years of service

1 day a week WFH ( 4 days in Petersfield, Hampshire)
