A great opportunity has become available for a Quality Manager to join a Food Manufacturing company that is a market leader in Fresh Produce.
The role is full-time, permanent based at their east Yorkshire site.
As a Quality Manager you will oversee the Quality Department, its people, responsible for site food safety and quality, systems policies, procedures and equipment. Dealing with complaints and assisting in 3rd party audits.
Key Responsibilities:
· Principal responsibility for ensuring that the site's quality systems meet (and exceed, where applicable) the requirements of each respective customer, as well as ensuring compliance with all legislative and industry guidelines and regulations.
· Managing key interactions with customers and outside agencies / suppliers - particularly with respect to the effective receipt, logging, investigation, root cause analysis, reporting and trending of incoming customer complaints, defect reports, non-conformances.
· Support and proactively drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
· Ensuring strict adherence to food safety culture and hygiene standards are implemented, maintained and adhered to.
· Responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling all activities and staff within the Quality team to enable the business to achieve the right quality product at the right time in line with food quality and safety systems.
· Fulfil continuous improvement projects to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and streamline processes and procedures.
· Improve labour effectiveness of the Quality team.
· Managing the Quality budget for the site.
· Maintaining the operational performance of all Quality systems and procedures whilst ensuring a safe working environment.
· Meeting Quality department KPI's and reporting these to the rest of the site management team.
· Manage and motivate all team members and ensure they are supported and work in partnership to deliver Quality KPIs that contribute to business KPI's.
· Aid in the recruitment, retention and staff development processes to ensure the Quality team has the correct resources at all times.
· To detect and rectify any issues in a timely manner, which affects the performance / safety of plant or equipment.
· Champion industry best practices and promote the introduction of new technologies, where applicable.
· To adhere to and promote best practice in accordance with company health, safety and quality regulations.
· To ensure GMP (good manufacturing practices) and housekeeping (clean as you go) are strictly adhered to.
· Ensure all work carried out complies with relevant health and safety standards.
· Ensure all necessary daily records and paperwork are completed in a timely manner as required by the company.
· Liase with the site technical manager to ensure that customer specifications are up to date and accurate, ensuring that they are maintained as required.
· Implement, develop and maintain shelf-life trials procedures and processes.
· Work with the technical manager in implementing and maintaining internal GMP, Fabrication and Glass & Hard Plastic Audits.
· Conducting risk assessments, process flows where applicable.
· Assist the technical manager with customer and 3rd party Visits
· Be a key member of the Food Safety, HACCP, TACCP and VACCP team.
· Work with the technical manager in implementing and maintaining Hygiene schedules, liaising with Hygiene suppliers, and ensuring that hygiene equipment and cleaning equipment are stocked.
· Searching for best cost to drive down site costs for chemicals, equipment and laboratory testing.
· Site lead for laboratory testing, trending and reporting.
· Flexible approach to working hours. On-call duties to resolve any issues out of hours.
About you:
· Level 3-4 HACCP
· Technical and quality experience within a wide range of food manufacturing operations.
· Experience in site technical and Quality management.
· Experience gained within a UK retail customer facing role.
· Comprehensive knowledge of retailer codes of practice.
· BRC V9 experience and Red Tractor and LEAF are desirable
The Salary for this position is £40,000
The working hours for this role is Monday to Friday 7.30am - 4.30pm
