We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team based in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary starting at £41,840 per annum with your salary increasing up to £52,300 as your progress through our development scheme.
About the role
As our Senior Electrical Engineering Technician you will support and advise both management and staff on a variety of aspects of electrical maintenance including statutory inspections, set to work, optimisation and repair of operational plant and process.
You will provide clear advice to key stakeholders and Internal Management on the development and performance measurement of Electrical Safety and Environmental Engineering capability in South West Water.
You will also lead and develop a capable and effective electrical engineering ethos paying particular attention to process safety and product safety delivered by area maintenance managers and the respective field teams.
What you’ll be doing:
- Establishment, rollout and continuous review of the Company Electrical Safety Policy and Electrical Safety Rules
- Establish and carry out competency assessments across the electrical discipline
- Delivering Competent Person training for SWW staff and maintain records
- Ensuring the company remains compliant with all legislative requirements for electrical safety
- Upkeep and review of electrical safety performance within the Operational Maintenance function
- Supporting Operational Maintenance management in ongoing electrical safety governance
- Documentation, review and monitoring of electrical safety processes and taking action where necessary
What we are looking for:
Essential:
- A full UK driving license
- A flexible approach to working hours and travel
- High level of skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and customer-facing skills
- An ability to manage a high volume of work, work at a fast pace, manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
- An ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Time served apprenticeship in an electrical discipline, supported by relevant formal qualifications; City and Guilds, EAL etc
- ONC/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering Technology
- Current BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations Eighteenth Edition (AMD 2, 2020)
- C&G 2391-52 Inspection and Testing or equivalent
- Water Industry experience
Desirable:
- Aiming to or currently professionally registered as Member IET (IEng)
- Desirable but required within reasonable timeframe post appointment:
- Professionally Registered, EC UK SPEC Competencies Framework EngTech, IEng, CEng
- JTL Compex (Ex09-Ex10) Water Utilities
- Low Voltage Competent Person (CP)
- Low Voltage Authorised Person (AP)
