Lead Electronic Design Engineer - Hampshire (Hybrid) - £65,000
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electronic Design Engineer to join our Defence projects team. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced electronic systems, ensuring all projects meet stringent Defence standards and requirements. This role involves conducting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), managing Bills of Materials (BOM), designing tests for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and using Altium software and programming languages such as C/C++.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of electronic systems and components for Defence applications.

Conduct DFMEA to identify potential design risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Manage and account for Bills of Materials (BOM) for all projects.

Design and conduct tests for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) to ensure compliance with relevant standards.

Create detailed design specifications, schematics, and layout documentation using Altium Designer.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to define project requirements and deliverables.

Oversee the prototyping, assembly, and troubleshooting of electronic systems.

Ensure all designs comply with relevant Defence standards and regulatory requirements.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design team members.

Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and technical discussions.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.

Utilize programming languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems development.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Proven experience as an Electronic Design Engineer, with a strong background in Defence or similarly highly regulated environments.

Proficiency in electronic design tools such as Altium Designer.

Strong understanding of circuit design, PCB layout, and embedded systems.

Experience with DFMEA and risk mitigation strategies.

Knowledge and experience in managing Bills of Materials (BOM).

Expertise in designing tests for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).

Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++.
