Clean DBS, RTW documents. Candidates will need to attend an interview with the Director of Criminal Justice Services to discuss their previous experience
Our client are looking for an Area Manager to cover their Approved Premises sites in Streatham, Highbury and Battersea. The right candidate must be Probation trained and have strong experience in leading and managing a Team of Probation officers.
Key Responsibilities

Lead on the delivery of contractual and operational requirements of clients Independent Approved Premises, in line with the Ministry of Justice contract as well as operational policies, procedures and practice

Work within our clients policies and procedures whilst ensuring adherence to requirements from the Ministry of Justice, Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service and/or the National Probation Service, and ensure cohesiveness between the policies of all stakeholder organisations

Supported by the Head of Offender Services, respond effectively to operational and other risks presented by an actual or potential incident

To ensure that AP staff manage all risk appropriately and effectively, utilising best practice and meeting all public protection standards and targets contributing to public protection through multi agency arrangements and individual case work review, discussion and feedback

To carry out safeguarding children and safeguarding adult’s duties in accordance with all statutory responsibilities and agency policies

Provide advice and make defensible decisions on the management of high-risk offenders, ensuring appropriate placements are available within our clients APs, and managing referrals across the estate with an awareness of public protection and the reputational risks for our clients and other partner agencies

Deliver, monitor and report performance and quality outcomes in line with the requirements of the MoJ, HMPPS, NPS and our clients

To lead and facilitate effective communication between the AP management team and internal and external partners and key stakeholders, representing our clients as appropriate including with the National Approved Premises Association and at internal and external forums (e.g. MAPPA) as required

All aspects of line management including recruitment, induction, scheduling, development and performance management of staff. Lead on the development and delivery of the team specialist training plan

Consistently modelling pro-social behaviour and attitudes; challenging anti-social behaviour and attitudes helping to create and maintain a positive culture of respect in all work inside and outside of the service with both clients and colleagues

Take a proactive role in their own learning by taking responsibility for highlighting areas for personal and professional development as well as ensuring they make full use of induction, training and coaching opportunities afforded to them

To ensure that all AP staff are supported and appropriately trained to manage well-being and self-harm, including the use of specialist equipment such as ligature knives, defibrillators, Naloxone and body fluid kits

Develop manage the devolved budget for our clients APs, ensuring resources are managed effectively

Participate in and coordinate on-call management cover for our clients APs, including out of hours-additional payment allowance made.
Person Specification
-
Experience of working with offenders in a residential setting, with particular emphasis on supervision, monitoring, encouraging compliance and enforcing sanctions where necessary

Experience of working with service users with current and historic involvement with the Criminal Justice System
-
Knowledge and understanding of the key facets of rehabilitation and public protection
-
An understanding of the emotional and behavioral impact of trauma and the ability to work with people who may be display a range of emotions, behaviors and communication challenges
-
Strong financial management with the ability to manage services within budget
-
Demonstrable experience of recruitment, induction, supervision, motivation, appraisal, training, discipline and grievance issues, performance monitoring and delivering consistently high delivery standards and service user standards

Ability to consistently achieve service Key Performance Indicators and create viable improvement plans where required

A high standard of written and spoken English and ability to produce professional documents

Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately

Ability to work flexibly including on call cover in evening, weekends / bank holidays-Rota is two days rolling. Two days out of every ten.
