Role
You will have site responsibility for H&S, co-ordinating with the Site Safety Team and the Colloids Group Safety Team. To support and advise the business on all aspects with regards to Health, Safety and the Environment. To establish, manage and monitor standard processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with H&S within the Knowsley site are adhered to. The HS&E Officer has full responsibility for the training and development of the Environmental Officer.
The HSE officer's main aim is to reduce risk and prevent accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses in the workplace. To create and implement health and safety policies in accordance with the latest legislation and to ensure that these policies are implemented by management and employees. Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
Responsibilities
Ensure that all accidents and incidents are documented, root cause investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
Certify that site safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
Update and maintain Safety KPI and report performance to the Executive Team.
Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
Manage and develop a documented safety inspections, audits and checks.
Manage and develop a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.
Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
Participate in monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
Collaborate with law enforcement agents and investigators to address cases of workplace accident.
Submit recommendations on safety topics such as proper waste disposal, fire regulations, and noise.
Conduct risk assessments to identify work areas with high risk of operational hazard.
Requirements
3+ years' experience in an industrial role, involving process equipment, chemicals and materials.
NEBOSH qualified (general certificate) or NEBOSH Environment Certificate / NEBOSH Fire Safety
COSHH Trained
Handling of H&S investigations
Experience of formulating, implementing and revising H&S policies and procedures
