Working Hours: Monday to Friday, afternoons (up to 4 hours per day, 18.5 hours per week - negotiable)
Duration: Until February 2025, with potential extension

Summary of Role: As a Youth Worker within the Progression and Learning Service, you will engage with young people aged 16-24 who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). Your role will involve delivering personal development programmes and working closely with colleagues and external partners to support these young people.
Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with clients and partners to identify and engage NEET young people.

Encourage young people to participate in available support services.

Assess needs and plan appropriate support pathways, including personal development programmes.

Work with young people, including those with multiple barriers, on a one-on-one basis and in group sessions.

Build strong relationships within local communities across Durham, including the voluntary and community sector.

Build and maintain positive relationships with young people.

Monitor and evaluate youth work in consultation with colleagues and young people.

Encourage active participation of young people in decision-making processes.

Deliver travel training to support independent travel skills.

Support the tracking process to identify participant destinations post-programme.

Implement Progression and Learning’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Participate in regular performance reviews and undertake relevant training courses.

Adhere to the client’s Equal Opportunities policy.

Perform other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as required.
Essential Requirements:

Relevant Youth Work Qualification (Level 2 minimum), or be on track to achieve within 12 months.

Recent experience delivering youth work sessions to young people.

Experience working face-to-face and building relationships with young people.

Experience working in partnership with organisations such as schools, local authority departments, and the voluntary/community sector.

Experience delivering group work to young people.
-
Experience monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating work with young people.

Availability for agreed hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
