At an exciting time of development and expansion for the company, our Store Construction department is at the forefront of ensuring the infrastructure is in place to facilitate our ambitious plans. You will be an enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking Project Manager/Engineer involved with all aspects of Building Services disciplines and integrated systems. You will have a keen interested in the built environment and continually strive for improvements and optimisation is all aspects of your work. You will be part of the design team responsible for creating the UK Corporate Building specifications.
You will be liaising with internal stakeholders and our external consultants, contractors and suppliers. You will require good understanding of legislation, regulations, and best practice to manage the development of M&E design into the standard store specification and special project work. This includes Building Management Systems and Energy Monitoring, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Lighting, Power, EVC, PV, & Public Health systems and Sustainability topics. Design implementations should consider practicality, buildability, cost, time & sustainability.
What you'll do
Effectively manage the design, co-ordination, installation, commissioning and hand-over of the M&E and integrated services on store construction projects throughout GB.
Monitor, track and regularly report on the quality of the services installations and continually seek to identify and implement process change and improvement.
Travel to all regions within the portfolio to attend meetings, check and report on installation quality, witness commissioning demonstrations and ensure compliance.
Serve as a point of contact for regional construction and property teams to provide technical support, specification guidance and regulatory compliance advice.
Work on a variety of special projects and trials from identifying proposals to their application and on to analysis and reporting.
Implement strategic improvements and changes to the Corporate Building specifications and effectively engage with and communicate to internal and external stakeholders.
Complete detailed and accurate cost analysis and evaluations of in-depth design proposals.
Manage and co-ordinate external suppliers and contractors to ensure best value for Lidl while building strong supply chain to support large scale and fast-paced rollouts.
Go out to market and complete competitive tenders to onboard new suppliers & contractors, taking responsibility for the entire tender process.
Regularly review supplier and contractor rates against market changes and external factors.
Managing assigned project plans and deadlines, with regular reporting & presentation to senior management.
Preparing scope of works, budgets & regularly reviewing costs to ensure targets are met.
Working with internal stakeholders to prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports on budgets and progress of rollout.
Develop tender documents and manage tender processes from conception to award, including detailed & technical documents, review proposals, developing scoring matrix and awarding contracts.
What you'll need
Minimum bachelor's degree-level (or equivalent) education in a Building Services/Sustainability discipline or Construction/Engineering related, Qualified to master's degree is desirable.
Relevant practical Building Services and/or Engineering experience
Ability to read, check, develop and implement construction drawings.
Ability to learn quickly and independently and adapt to varying topics.
Exposure to contracts management or site experience desirable but not essential
Management of internal stakeholder (including senior management) & external suppliers/contractors.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically PowerPoint and Excel
The ability to multi-task and handle conflicting deadlines.
Strong attention to detail
German speaking is advantageous but not essential.
Valid UK driving licence is essential for this role.
