Job Role: Quality Assurance Technician
Salary: £13.33 PH / £1 Premium for hours between 10pm – 4am
Location: Leicestershire
Type: Full Time / Permanent
Hours: 45 Hours PW
Shift Pattern: 5/7 45 hours per week change to 4 on 4 off following probation completion.
Overview
Everest People Solutions is actively seeking a dependable and skilled Quality Assurance Technician for a food business. Your role is to support the Quality Manager in monitoring processes and products against site procedures and Quality Contracts through auditing and supporting interdepartmental teams, giving training in specialist subjects such as Metal Detection, Weights and Measures, paperwork completion and segregation. The key task is to maintain the company’s due diligence defence and ensure food safety, product integrity and quality of all products and processes are maintained, in line with specifications and customer requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities for the Quality Assurance Technician

Review and improve production paperwork for real-time accuracy and completeness.

Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation for processes and products.

Conduct scheduled legal compliance checks on equipment, escalate issues, and support corrective actions.

Ensure facility hygiene through GMP and fabrication audits, reporting findings as per procedures.

Conduct and lead investigations for sampling and swabbing, implementing corrective measures for out-of-spec results.

Act as the expert for CCP and weight controls, ensuring compliance and delivering training.

Assess and maintain accurate, current, and audit-ready production paperwork and products.

Conduct PQE assessments and update the Technical board on progress and non-conformities.

Attend KPI meetings, highlight discrepancies, and maintain a QMS-compliant documentary evidence library.

Log, investigate, and close out non-conformances promptly, auditing weight control checks for compliance.

Sign off equipment and areas post-maintenance, ensuring contamination-free status before production resumes.

Assist in new product development, ensuring HACCP compliance and conducting environmental and ATP testing.

Ensure allergen controls are in place, providing training as needed, and conducting GMP audits with timely closeouts.

Review factory floor activities, address issues with departmental heads, and conduct locker and fridge audits.

Train operatives and site personnel per the training matrix, addressing internal audit weaknesses.

Provide QA role coverage during holiday/sickness, assist with traceability exercises, and promote a quality and audit-ready culture.
