The Modelling Data and Systems (MDS) team are responsible for the provision of Modelling, Data and Visualisation as a service to the Water Resource function providing all required data gathering, management and analysis and modelling required for the wider Function to execute its responsibilities. We are looking for a Systems Manager to join the team on a full time permanent basis with a salary of £52,500 per annum and excellent benefits.
As Systems Manager you will be responsible for technical leadership of the short term risk mitigation strategies and longer term Systems Transformation across the Water Resource Function (WRF) suite of systems, ensuring in the short term that the unsupported systems are proactively managed and that longer term the systems architecture across the Water Resources function reflects leading practices and provision across the industry, aligned to the needs of AMP8 and beyond. The role covers all Water Resource Function systems used across South West Water, Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water and Isles of Scilly regions. You will sit within the Modelling Data and Reporting Team.
What you'll be doing:

Engaging with systems users across WRF to understand current systems architecture strengths and constraints and develop a comprehensive understanding of user requirements to inform future systems improvements.

Creating collaborative relationships with Group IT leadership through open working and proactive sharing of strategies and plans.

Developing and implementing the WRF Systems Strategy.

Scope and commission systems improvements work in line with wider systems strategy.

Developing and delivering short term risk mitigation strategies to ensure that critical, un-supported, systems function in a way that allows for delivery of regulatory data returns.

Delivering a portfolio of visualisation projects, managing resources appropriately to ensure all reports meet timescales and quality standards.

Implementing and overseeing a user-centric systems implementation approach, including post-go live feedback mechanisms to support continuous improvement.

Identifying and implementing industry innovation and good practice in order to inform the Systems Strategy.
What we are looking for:

IT/ Systems Engineering/ related Degree
-
Hold professional membership of a recognised body (e.g. CITP)
-
Experience in Systems Transformation – strategy development and delivery.

Extensive experience of user requirement gathering, analysis and response planning.

Experience working alongside a Group IT function to implement systems improvements
-
Experience managing a portfolio of Systems improvement projects, balancing resources and managing stakeholder expectations proactively.

Experience scoping and managing third party delivery for systems improvements
