We are seeking a Warehouse Fork Lift Truck Operative to join our night shift team. The successful candidate will assist Warehouse Team Leaders and Managers in ensuring the smooth operation of all warehouse duties. This includes loading and unloading trailers, picking full pallets and cases, receiving stock, cleaning, and conducting cycle counts. You will work both independently and as part of a team, utilising mechanical handling equipment and manual handling techniques.
The Role:
- Responsibility for location of stock receipts into the warehouse after ensuring that the paperwork and goods are correct, raising any discrepancies to the Team Leaders and Managers.
- Responsibility for picking goods from stock as and when required as directed by the Team Leaders or Managers.
- Operation of mechanical handling equipment (Counterbalance, Pivot, Reach and Pedestrian pallet trucks) to move pallets around the warehouse in order to meet business needs.
- Inspection of the trailer prior to loading goods, to ensure that the vehicle adheres to cleanliness and hygiene standards to transport goods and to sign load sheet to confirm vehicle and goods have been checked.
- To ensure that goods are loaded and unloaded as directed by the Team Leader or Manager ensuring that goods are correct and not damaged.
- To perform stock movements as required in accordance with the Company’s procedures.
- To ensure that high standards of housekeeping are maintained throughout the Warehouse and damaged products are brought to the attention of the Team Leader or Manager.
- Full adherence to health and safety policy and procedures at all times, reporting any broken, defective or faulty equipment to a manager to ensure the safety of all staff.
- Any other such task deemed reasonable by the line manager and commensurate with the post.
The Person:
- Previous experience of working in a high volume FMCG or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience of Counterbalance/Reach/Pivot Truck driving.
- Ability to work autonomously to a high standard, either alone or as part of a wider team.
- Good oral/written communication skills, with the ability to deal confidently with a range of people at all levels.
- Good timekeeper.
- Suitable knowledge of up-to-date Health & Safety regulations.
- Ability to undertake manual handling tasks repetitively, of weights up to 25kg
- To be flexible and supportive to meet ever changing business demands.
- To possess a methodical and proactive work ethic.
- Willingness to work night shifts from 10pm to 6am, five days a week (Monday to Friday).
- Willingness to work the day shift for approximately 2 weeks initially for training purposes.
- Right to work in the UK (must be able to provide evidence at interview).
