A production shift manager role for candidates with FMCG or food industry production background.
This is a critical role in a fast-paced, quality focussed business with a successful track record in their sector across their customer base. They are adding to their production team and need ambitious individuals to join the site who want to develop themselves and make that next step in their production career.
The shift pattern would be Monday - Friday, 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm rotating so guaranteed weekends off.
With a wealth of experience to tap into on the Senior Leadership Team, the knowledge and support is there to learn from and develop with.
This is a busy factory environment, so you need to be versatile, to reprioritise and lead your shift, and hungry to drive improvements and make the necessary changes to lead the best shift.
What will your day involve?
The management of a production team with a keen focus on safety and quality at all times.
Working closely with the factory teams, communicating the KPI demands and measuring against them across the shift.
Ensure effective utilisation of labour against the production plan.
Work closely with your team developing their knowledge and inputs to ensure a core skill set is continually monitored through a matrix building in additional training in line with personal development.
Consistently accountable for your team's effectiveness and performance.
Effective leadership and coaching of the teams with close daily interaction and through a managed and organised review process (PDP's and PDR's).
Deliver continuous improvement in production and embedding that culture cross functionally.
Collaborate with the other shift managers to deliver cost savings towards the overall budget.
Be involved in the detail on the factory floor to pick up and eliminate any blockers operating proactively and reactively when required.
Communicating clearly and effectively so there is no ambiguity and the plans for the day and week have clarity and tie into the overall operational strategy.
We need candidates who can show:
Leading teams through involvement and setting the right example and high-standards.
The ability to communicate and display KPI's clearly educating, coaching and detailing the 'what and why'.
Excellent understanding of GMP and the need to comply with all HSE regulations and conveying that daily to your team.
Looking to improve efficiencies in every process - driving your team through clear communication, accountability, and education.
Genuine interest in people management and how to lead teams in demanding manufacturing environments.
You understand fast paced manufacturing (FMCG or food) and are able to think and react at speed.
Good understand of OEE.
Positive and upbeat attitude.
Problem solving - dealing with issues and always avoiding unwanted surprises.
Taking pride in the shift, striving to have the top performing shift.
Conducts effective handovers and embeds processes and procedures that mean shifts work together to achieve results. Understanding how critical the 'golden hour' is.
