Our client is a well-established engineering organisation with multiple sites across the Southwest. As a HR / Payroll Advisor, you will be based at our client's headquarters in Taunton but will liaise with their various locations. This generalist role will involve providing HR advice and support to managers, as well as assisting in the development and update of Company Policies and Procedures related to HR/Payroll.
Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
Provide guidance and support to managers on investigation and disciplinary procedures
Assist with grievances and ensure proper documentation is completed
Advise managers and employees on terms and conditions of employment
Promote employee welfare and oversee administrationRecruitment and Onboarding of Employees
Support managers in the recruitment process and conduct selection/interview processes if necessary
Update job profiles and complete offer letters and contracts of employment
Arrange relevant employment checks and support induction processes
Maintain records of induction training and ensure completion of probation reviewsAbsence/Sickness Management
Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of absence
Request medical reports and arrange health review/capability meetings
Take notes and provide reports on absencePayroll
Liaise with external payroll company to provide accurate payroll information
Submit monthly summary spreadsheets for payroll changes/amendments
Verify draught payroll reports for accuracy and make necessary verifications
Oversee administration of the company's payroll portal and address payroll queriesLearning and Development
Maintain training records and support the training matrix
Monitor training completions and enrolments
Support new learners and record training requirementsEssential Requirements:
Qualified to at least CIPD Level 3 (ideally Level 5)
Practical knowledge of employment law and ability to convey it to managers
Good experience in a HR setting
Good working knowledge of Data Protection/GDPR/Subject Access Requests
Previous experience with note-taking and report writing
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Previous experience providing HR advice/support to managers
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Attention to detail, ability to work independently or as part of a team
Energetic, self-motivated, and able to build positive relationships with managers across the organisation
