The Client is on the lookout for a dedicated and detail-oriented Estimator to specialise in commercial and interior projects. This full-time role is based in Datchet, Slough, Berkshire, and is ideal for someone with a passion for fit-out and refurbishment projects within the dynamic aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Generate precise and competitive cost estimates, factoring in materials, labor, and overheads.
- Bid Management: Work with the bid management team to craft proposals that win contracts, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Relations: Forge and nurture relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure the best prices and terms.
- Risk Analysis: Perform comprehensive risk assessments for projects, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
- Value Engineering: Contribute to project efficiency through value engineering, balancing cost-savings with quality.
- Documentation: Keep meticulous records of estimating processes, creating scope documents from client discussions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating, particularly in fit-out and refurbishment.
- Proficiency in estimating software (Excel & MS) and a strong grasp of construction materials, methods, and best practices.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with effective communication and negotiation capabilities.
- A degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations is essential.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the interiors sector, with expertise in trades such as joinery, drylining, suspended ceilings, and general building, including some M&E knowledge.
