The Role
Due to our continued growth, we are delighted to confirm that we are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Site Manager (ASM) to join Fortem, based in Birmingham with travel across the south of the city.
The ASM will work on a full-time basis and will lead the site teams and subcontractors in undertaking the required projects tasks and will be accountable for the management and planning of sub-contract labour, supporting the delivery of a large projects and refurbishment program including EWI cladding and roofing programmes.
The Project
Responsibilities will include:
• Review any certification to ensure that works comply with appropriate standards
• Ensure inspections are properly recorded on the appropriate prescribed forms of certification and reporting.
• To ensure that works instructions issued to trades or subcontractors are clear, unambiguous and represent a full and fair days’ workload, at all times seeking to maximise productivity.
• To lead a team of supply chain partners to solve problems associated with carrying out their works.
• Enforce H&S procedures and policies.
• Carry out Ad Hoc safety inspections on supply chain partners.
• Carry out WIPs on directly employed trades people.
• Carry out Quality Inspections on all works.
• Ensure PAT testing of office equipment and plant is current.
• Organise work activity and prioritisation for the team.
• Accident Recording.
• Managing the Welfare facilities on site.
• Working with clients, supply chain partners and tenants to achieve excellent customer satisfaction.
Essential And Desirable Criteria
Essential
• Experience of managing construction projects at Assistant Site Manager level
• Problem solving skills, analytical capability
• Ability to work well under pressure
• IT skills including the Microsoft Office package
• Scaffold Inspection
• PASMA Trained
• CSCS Card
• Full UK driving licence and the flexibility to undertake regular travel
Desirable
• Experience in social housing repairs and maintenance
• Understanding of job costing
• SMSTS
• Knowledge or an understanding of EWI cladding, roofing and external construction projects
