Job Overview:
I am seeking a dynamic and motivated Business Development Manager to join my client's team. This is an exciting new role based predominantly at their Midlands/North of England office, with occasional travel to their manufacturing hub in Surrey. Collaborating closely with the Machine Shop, Production, and Marketing teams to achieve strategic objectives. You will play a pivotal role in driving growth, expanding our client base, and ensuring the continuous success of our client.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Existing Accounts: Lead initiatives to expand current accounts, ensuring sustained growth and client satisfaction.
- New Accounts: Identify and secure new business opportunities within the subcontract machining and metal finishing markets.
Client Relations:
- Build and nurture strong client relationships by understanding their needs and offering customized solutions.
Sales Targets:
- Consistently meet and surpass sales targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Collaboration:
- Work with internal teams on leads, estimates, quotes, proposals, and bids to ensure seamless fulfilment of client requirements.
Other Duties:
Estimating and Quoting:
- Interpret customer requirements from CAD, technical specifications, or computer models.
- Prepare detailed quotations, proposals, and bids for subcontract machining, finishing, and assembly work.
- Review costs and acceptable margins with relevant teams.
Strategic Planning:
- Assess whether to bid on specific RFQs.
- Prepare speculative costings and proposals for long-term, high-value projects.
Marketing and Administration:
- Assist in marketing campaigns and maintain up-to-date sales/prospects and CRM databases.
- Manage the sales pipeline and develop industry connections.
Support Structure:
- Receive filtered leads from Lead Generation Management.
- Collaborate with dedicated Estimators and Business Unit Managers.
- Gain support from Group Machine Shop, Metal Finishing, and Quality Managers.
Candidate Profile:
Essential Skills and Experience:
Proven engineering background through apprenticeship, academic qualifications, or significant experience.
Minimum of 5 years in Engineering, Manufacturing, Estimating, or Business Development.
Familiarity with CNC machining and the ability to read CAD/engineering drawings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media tools.

Willingness to travel across the UK and attend trade shows/conferences as needed.
