We are now recruiting for a Purchasing Manager to assume responsibility for developing, implementing and delivering the Company’s procurement strategy, processes and procedures.
In addition to this as our Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for:
- Leading, managing and developing the Purchasing team.
- Providing day to day operational and strategic Supply Chain advice and direction.
- Setting and operating local procurement policies, systems, SOPs and frameworks.
- Setting commercial standards and developing budgets for direct and indirect spend.
- Ensuring optimum inventory levels of purchased component parts.
- Managing the subcontract process across the business.
- Negotiating and agreeing contracts and / or long-term purchase agreements with suppliers.
- Delivering cost savings and leading cost reduction efforts for the purchasing function.
Critical competencies for success:
- Formal purchasing qualification (CIPS Level 4 or above), or Equivalent Degree, or MBA/ MSc.
- Experience in category strategy management and sourcing.
- Experience of implementing progressive supplier management tools (Lean, Six Sigma, APQP/PPAP, SRM, VAVE).
- Proven record of success in procurement in an operational, hands on environment.
- Significant experience of operating within a global manufacturing / technology business.
- Successful management experience in similar organisation with a proven track record of change leadership.
- Ability to develop high performing procurement teams.
- Excellent forecasting and planning skills.
- Successful background in supplier management, development and negotiation.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, Sales & Operations planning, New Product Introduction processes, Quality Management Systems
- Ability to inspire, influence and manage development activity.
- Has or able/willing to obtain security clearance.
Desirable Competencies for Success:
- An understanding of Lean practice and principles.
- Broad based technical and business knowledge of the Defence industry
- Understanding of EFACS MRP.
