Role: Senior Legal Officer REF 19050
Contract Length: 4 – 6 months
Location: Hybrid (one day on-site and court attendance in Nuneaton as required)

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £45 per hour
Spinwell is recruiting for a Senior Legal Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR LEGAL OFFICER

To provided dedicated legal support on housing, civil litigation and employment matters.

To contribute to the provision of an efficient and effective legal service to councillors and officers with a commitment to continual improvement and performance management.

To work alongside other members of the Legal Services Team in supporting the Council’s ambitious Transformation Programme, including advocacy, drafting and/or negotiating for cases within the areas of responsibility of the role with limited supervision.

Where necessary and if required by the Legal & Governance Manager to provide support in other areas within the legal team. This will be based upon demand and the relevant experience of the postholder.

To participate in corporate activities and initiatives as and when required.

The post is supervised by the Legal & Governance Manager through team meetings, 1:1s and day-to-day contact.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR LEGAL OFFICER

Experience & Knowledge: Advising on housing, civil litigation, and employment matter. (background in housing law preferred)

Knowledge of governance, planning, property, contracts, licensing, and criminal litigation is desirable.

Experience within local government or public sector settings is desirable.
