A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for one the UK's largest multi-disciplinary engineering businesses where they Design and Build unique engineering projects within Rail, Building Services, Infrastructure and Energy sectors.
Our client has an opening for a ambitious site based Rail Quantity Surveyor to join an innovative team and be working on a Major Rail Depot project.
What you will be doing:

Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets and cost plans for rail projects.

Conduct detailed measurements and valuations of work done on-site.
-
Prepare and analyse project costings for tenders, including materials, quantities, labour, and time.

Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
-
Monitor project progress and ensure costs are kept within budget.

Provide regular financial reports and updates to project managers and stakeholders.

Assess and value variations and changes to the contract.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
-
Assist in the preparation of final accounts and project close-out reports.

Collaborate with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in the rail industry.

Strong understanding of construction and rail industry standards, contracts, and regulations.

Proficient in using quantity surveying software and tools (e.g., CostX, RICS New Rules of Measurement, etc.).

Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and negotiation abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES) is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on major rail infrastructure projects.

Familiarity with NEC and JCT contracts.

Certification in Project Management or Construction Management.
