Job Title: Senior Quality Practitioner - Medication Lead
Department: Quality Department, Head Office, Stockport
Hours: 37.5 hours a week (or part-time hours of no less than 25 hours)
Responsible to: Head of Quality and Service Director with lead on Quality
Location: Based at Head Office in Stockport, with extensive national travel and some home working flexibility
Scope of the Role:
The client’s Quality Department undertakes quality assurance, compliance, and best practice work nationally across various service user groups. This includes regular audits, proactive schedules ahead of external inspections, and overseeing social care governance structures. The department ensures that policies, procedures, and quality systems are in place to maintain high standards.
Summary of the Role:
The Senior Quality Practitioner - Medication Lead will significantly contribute to quality assurance, focusing on medication governance and improvement processes across national services. This role includes carrying out quality audits, supporting services with quality improvement, and ensuring compliance with CQC standards, particularly in the area of "Safe."
Key Responsibilities:

Medication Compliance:

Lead on medication good practice, ensuring policies and toolkits enable excellent medication management.Support staffing teams with improvement of medication practices.
Implement and review medication assessments and support plans.
Conduct staff medication observations.
Review and develop policies and training packages related to medication compliance.
Provide coaching and guidance on medication practices.
Promote health and wellbeing good practices.
Ensure adherence to NICE guidelines and national policy changes.
Champion good practice campaigns like STOMP (Stopping Over Medication).

Care Home Good Practice:
Review medication processes in care home settings, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance.
Support staff in understanding their duties in administering medication.
Review prescribed medications to promote independence where possible.

Service User Engagement and Co-Production:
Engage with service users and stakeholders for consultation and involvement initiatives.
Identify and promote good person-centred practices.
Ensure excellent safeguarding practices.
Involve service users in their care and quality improvement initiatives.
Offer supervision and training to staff on medication safe practices.
Report on compliance at national SCG meetings.

Quality Responsibilities:
Conduct quality audits and support services in meeting quality standards.
Collaborate with staff to complete assessments and support plans to high standards.
Assist in developing Quality Improvement Plans and ensuring their effective implementation.
Provide professional advice and support to managers and services.
Attend relevant forums and elicit feedback to improve services.
Maintain accurate logs of internal quality inspections and action plans.

Accept regular support and supervision from the line manager.
Provide regular verbal and written reports of work undertaken.
Attend and contribute to Quality team meetings.
Work flexibly, including nationwide travel and working outside core hours.

Person Specification:

Experience and Qualifications:
Senior Practitioner and/or management experience in supporting individuals with social care needs.
Relevant professional practitioner qualification, preferably from the health sector.
Current Nurse registration (Desirable).
