Role Summary
The Occupational Health Technician role at MCL is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly organised individual to join our expanding team. MCL has a busy central clinic in Aberdeen which supports our clients to achieve their statutory duties to protect and promote the health, safety and welfare of people at work. We’re looking for a reliable and motivated professional with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. The successful applicant will be a self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. They will be comfortable troubleshooting and problem-solving and have a passion for supporting the success of the organisation.
As part of the MCL Medics team, your key responsibilities include.
Provision of health screening & health surveillance assessments
Day to day maintenance of health screening equipment & facilities
Recording & maintaining accurate, clear, concise medical records
Managing Health Records ensuring safe storage, security and confidentiality of all OH records, at all times complying with relevant legislation and good practice
Ensuring safe storage of medical records & equipment when offsite
Maintaining high professional standards at all times
Work to strict protocols & procedures set by MCL Medics and in line with SEQOHS accreditation
Technicians are required to demonstrate, or develop through their training period, competency in the performance of a wide variety of screening tests and techniques, including the following:
Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, Pulse, BMI
Audiometry, Spirometry, Skin, HAVS, Vision
Urinalysis - Drug & Alcohol testing
12 Lead ECG testing
Chester step fitness testing
Assisting with D4 driver assessments, OGUK (offshore) assessments, Seafarer & Rail medicals
General clinic administration duties to include (but not limited to) record management, filing, copying, report encryption, clinic preparation, reception, appointment booking.
This permanent role will be 5 days per week in the clinic.
What Are We Looking For?
Experience in a health screening or medical environment
Health related qualifications are preferable but similar workplace/educational experiences considered
Proactive, friendly, and professional individuals with workload management confidence
Contribution towards safe working practices across the OH Delivery team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to contribute ideas and suggestions for improvements in order to achieve more effective working practices
Someone who remains calm under pressure and is trustworthy and honest
Energetic and enthusiastic approach to work
Good understanding of Microsoft packages, and comfortable in use of OH software
