Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Baker to join our dynamic catering team within a bustling college environment. The role is based in Bolton and the successful candidate will report to the Catering Manager on site. We are looking for a skilled and creative Baker to join our team and prepare delicious baked goods for our customers. As a baker, you will be responsible for following recipes, mixing ingredients, baking breads, cakes, pies, cookies, and other pastries. You will also be in charge of decorating and displaying your products, ensuring quality and freshness, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, muffins, cookies, and pastries following traditional and modern recipes.
Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of students.
Decorate pastries to ensure the presentation will be on trend and exciting.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Creativity and attention to detail
Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items and stand for long hours
Monitor stocks for baking ingredients and make appropriate orders within budget.
Comply with nutrition and health and safety guidelines.
Perform all duties designated by the Catering Manager.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Baker or relevant role.
Great attention to detail and creativity.
In-depth knowledge of H&S requirements, food preparation, and baking techniques and nutrition.
Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten-free, sugarless, etc.)
Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field is a plus.

About You
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
Ideally, you will hold your basic food hygiene certificate and have some supervisory experience.
You must be customer-driven, with the ability to work well in a team.
Be proactive and happy to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Need to be a team player
