Job Description
Purpose of the Role:
Due to continued success and expansion, our client is looking to further grow their team by hiring an experienced Estimator. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious professional to secure profitable sales and support the group strategy. The ideal candidate will play a key role in leading the growth plan, aiming to expand from a £15 million construction group to a £40 million group of companies over the next three years. As an Estimator, you will oversee the bid process and be instrumental in securing new projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact with clients during the tender stage.
- Manage current and future tenders, collaborating with the in-house Operations Team and subcontractors.
- Price tenders using a combination of subcontractors and the direct labor pool.
- Prepare tender handover packs for the Operational and Commercial delivery teams.
- Assist in maximizing project profitability.
- Develop and maintain relationships to open new revenue streams in line with company targets.
- Maintain an awareness of the broader business and service offerings, effectively communicating with clients and customers as needed.
What We Are Looking For:
- Relevant degree qualification or HNC.
- Experience in construction and refurbishment works.
- Experience pricing projects ranging from £500k to £5m.
- Competence in carrying out measurements, take-offs, and first principle calculations.
- Proficiency in package analysis following initial tender inquiries to ensure no scope gap.
- Thorough understanding of standard forms of contract, including JCT and NEC.
- Ability to create headline/tender programs.
- Proficiency with IT, including Microsoft Office and estimating packages/tools.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
- Capacity to manage a high workload volume with a flexible approach.
- Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Effective communication at all levels within and outside the organization.
- Motivation to stay updated with industry changes and developments.

- Base salary ranging between £80,000 to £100,000 per annum, depending on experience.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in a similar role, with a strong current knowledge of the construction industry and a solid reputation. This role is suited to a driven individual with the motivation to develop and grow within the business. Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all levels, including senior management and executives, is essential.
